Here's How Long Edibles Stay in Your System For

Edibles are one of the most popular forms of cannabis consumption. They come in many shapes and sizes and mainly come in the form of snacks.

Consuming edible offers cannabis users a number of benefits. The main one is that is is much healthier to use eating rather than smoking. This means you don’t have to worry about inhaling smoke which can be harmful to your health.

Edibles can also offer a more pleasant experience than smoking. You won’t feel as high when using edibles because it takes time for them to work their way through your system.

Edible products are usually made from concentrates, oils or extracts. These products are often mixed with other ingredients such as honey, chocolate, peanut butter, etc.

The effects of edibles can last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending a number of factors which we will talk about a bit later.

What are Edibles?

An edible is any food that contains THC or CBD. Some of the most popular edible are made in brownies, cookies, candies, and chocolate.

These foods usually contain around 10mg-20mg of THC per serving.

This means that if you eat 5 servings of an edible it will give you about 50 mg of THC. If you have been smoking weed for years then this may not be enough to get you high.

However, if you’ve never smoked before and want to try out some new products, edibles are perfect for you.

You can consume them at home or take them with you on your next trip to the dispensary.

What are the Effects?

The effects of edibles vary greatly based on what type of product you choose. Brownies and other baked goods tend to make people feel more relaxed than eating raw marijuana.

Cookies and candies tend to cause a stronger feeling of euphoria. Chocolate tends to produce a milder effect. When consuming edibles, it is important to know how much THC you are taking into your body.

It is recommended that you start off slowly and work up to higher doses over time. It is also important to note that edibles do not always stay in your system as long as you think they should.

This is because edibles are absorbed through your stomach rather than your lungs. The absorption rate depends on the size of the edible, the amount of THC in the edible, and the way you eat it.

How Long Do They Take to Kick In?

If you smoke weed, you probably know that it takes between 15-30 minutes for the effects to kick in. However, when you eat edibles, it can take up to 2 hours for the weed effects to kick in.

There are two main reasons why edibles take longer to kick in. First, the THC content in edibles is lower than the THC content in joints. Second, the THC is absorbed through the stomach instead of the lungs.

When you eat edibles, the THC travels through your digestive tract and enters your bloodstream. Once it reaches your brain, it has to pass through your blood-brain barrier first.

This process can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour.

How Long Do Edibles Last in Your Body?

The answer depends on several factors, including the type of edible, the dosage, your fat cells and body mass.

People with fast metabolisms tend to experience shorter highs while those who have slower metabolisms tend to enjoy their high for a longer period of time.

Some people report feeling the effects of edibles within 15 minutes, while others say it takes up to four hours.

However, it’s best to start with small doses and wait longer intervals between each dose. This way, you’ll avoid experiencing unpleasant side effects like nausea or anxiety.

One thing to keep in mind is that edibles don’t always work the same way every time. A single bite of candy might give you a mild buzz, but if you take too much, you could end up getting really high.

Do Edibles Show Up on Drug Tests?

The news that marijuana edibles could show up on a drug screen sent shockwaves through the cannabis industry. But while ingesting edibles does mean you are consuming THC, there are several reasons why it won’t necessarily show up on a urine test.

THC is fat soluble, meaning it sticks around in your bloodstream for about three to four hours. So even though you might eat something containing THC, it wouldn’t necessarily show on a urine test done within that window.

A blood test would likely pick up THC in your bloodstream closer to eight hours after ingestion. A hair sample would take weeks to months to come back positive. And a saliva or urine test could potentially pick up THC for days or weeks.

While THC is detectable in both saliva and urine, it’s usually easier to use those samples to confirm whether someone smoked weed or took edibles.

Takeaway

There is no way to accurately determine how long it takes someone to clear cannabis out of their system. This depends on many factors such as age, weight, metabolism, genetics, etc. However, there are some general guidelines you can follow.

If you’re new to cannabis, start off by taking smaller doses over longer periods of time. You should also try different strains and products to find what works best for you.
